## Hardware transfer model
303box treats these as separate capabilities: live MIDI playback, sequencer REC/capture, and direct non-volatile pattern-memory write.

- Roland T-8: live bass + rhythm MIDI; Bass REC capture has been hardware-tested; Rhythm REC capture remains beta; direct SysEx memory write is unavailable because the T-8 MIDI implementation does not receive SysEx. Final T-8 save is performed with physical WRITE.
- Behringer TD-3: primary bass target. An experimental USB-only direct pattern writer is available using a reverse-engineered TD-3 SysEx pattern protocol. It identifies the USB device, reads the target slot, stores a raw browser backup, writes only after explicit confirmation, then reads the target back and verifies the pattern payload. The protocol is unofficial and not manufacturer-published.
- Behringer TD-3-MO: primary bass target. Direct pattern write is never assumed; 303box first requires a compatible TD-3-family product response and a successful non-destructive pattern-read probe. If the probe fails, write stays disabled.
- Korg volca bass: live note/velocity/clock routing. The official MIDI chart marks System Exclusive TX/RX as unsupported, so 303box does not expose direct memory write. External-MIDI sequencer capture is a hardware-test candidate.
- Korg volca nubass: live note/velocity/clock routing. The official MIDI chart also marks System Exclusive TX/RX as unsupported. Realtime REC exists on the device, but external MIDI capture needs direct 303box hardware verification before a REC helper is enabled.
